Global VP, Arnold Jung, and about 50 coworkers make up a team responsible for Customer Engagement at SAP. They have their main office at Lysaker, Norway, but are spread out throughout the globe
Three days of leadership training
In 2019, Arnold Jung’s team of SAP global customer engagement had rapidly grown, which created the need for preserving its culture of learning and high performance. With this as a backdrop, 7 key leaders came together in Oslo for 3 days of leadership training.
Their new vision to become “the learning lighthouse” of SAP changed the way Arnold’s team strategically positioned itself in the following 6 months. They improved the way meetings and calls were conducted and focused on communicating value throughout the organization.
The annual survey among SAP employees helps shed some light on the actual impact of the work that has gone into the leadership training.

From 2018 to 2019 our employee engagement went from 83 to 92, In “vision” we now score 91 of previously 76 and our strategy went from 87 to 93. Only 3 days of training changed a lot.”

Creating a common culture for leadership and communication.
Creating a future team vision and leadership strategy.
Rapid team growth, doubling in one year, created a need for clear delegation of authority and responsibility.
Individual challanges in 3 areas: Communication, self-confidence and stress management.
Two-hour online awareness session, followed by a one-to-one interview for the whole global leadership team, to locate needs and opportunities.
Three days face-to-face “Human Relations and Communication” – training, at the Norwegian HQ of SAP.
One-to-one coaching sessions to create individual change management plans and scale the newly acquired knowledge and skills into the global team.
